Distinctness

Panagiotis Katsios - Dimosthenis Bogiatzis
           03.07.2015

In 2014-15 and during their BA studies Panagiotis Katsios and Dimosthenis Bogiatzis collaborated in creating printmaking works together, by working individually on the same etching plates and presenting the prints as the final art pieces.

The idea behind this concept was both the artists to work the same plates and experiment in etching techniques without having a specific idea of the end result in their mind. This process involved experimentation and allowed ‘errors’ while etching the plates, based on the principle of a reciprocally freedom to ‘erase’ each other's work that was previously made on the plate. By working respectively on the plates, the aim was the final print to have a sense that a third person made it.

By working and exchanging several plates at the same time, the artists pushed both their personal aesthetic boundaries and of the etching techniques to the limits.

A personal take on the subject, written by Panagiotis Katsios, here
